Easy Patriotic Fruit Salad

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and halved
  • 2 cups fresh blueberries, rinsed
  • 1 cup fresh banana slices (or white grapes)
  • 1/2 cup mini marshmallows (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons honey or agave syrup
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
  • 2 tablespoons fresh mint leaves, chopped (optional)

Method
 

  1. Wash all your fruit thoroughly. Hull the strawberries and slice them in half. Rinse the blueberries and pat them dry. Peel and slice the banana, or halve the white grapes if using those instead.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the strawberries, blueberries, and your white fruit of choice. Gently toss them together to distribute the colors evenly.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together the honey and fresh lime juice until well combined.
  4. Drizzle the honey-lime mixture over the fruit. Use a large spoon to gently toss everything together.
  5. If using mini marshmallows, fold them in now. Similarly, if adding fresh mint, sprinkle it in at this stage.
  6. Transfer your Easy Patriotic Fruit Salad to a serving bowl or platter. Arrange the fruit in layers or stripes of red, white, and blue.
  7. Serve immediately, or cover and refrigerate for up to 2 hours before serving.

Notes

Use the freshest fruit possible. Slice bananas just before serving to prevent browning. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours.
